Goals: Introduce my concept of Leadership by Design to organizations - in which the design of the company's message, website, and communication determine the type of client, customer, and team members they attract to their organization.
Above all, it is to help business owners have the confidence to define their goals and show them that their goals are achievable through measurable results.
Accomplishments: Shannon Routley has worked with hundreds of Canadian companies, helping many become local successes over the past two decades.
With his company Disbrand Marketing Inc., he has combined business development, communication, and marketing into a single point of access. His signature is creating effective marketing strategies for small-to-medium-sized businesses focusing on the professional services sector and manufacturing. Before Disbrand, Shannon was a managing partner at Mediashaker, where he helped grow the company into one of Alberta’s largest web firms with over 700 clients. During his 15-year tenure, he was instrumental in developing the company’s ShoutCMS eCommerce platform. The system has been used by numerous organizations and businesses including the City of St. Albert, Canadian florist Grower Direct (www.growerdirect.com) and grocer The Italian Centre Shop (www.italiancentre.ca). Mediashaker is a technology and service partner of Disbrand assisting in specific service areas and web development.
Shannon lives in Edmonton with his wife, Anastasia. He often travels to Kelowna to visit his family home and enjoy the outdoors. He is a natural photographer interested in urban, landscape and candid portraits. Among his many aspirations is to settle closer to the Rocky Mountains and continue working with clients to achieve their personal and professional visions.

Hobbies/activities/ interests: I love mountain hiking and nature walks. I combine this with photography which has become a passion of mine in recent years. I have an APS-C Fujifilm camera with several lens. I like architecture, street, and abstract photography and have used my photos for client work. I enjoy exploring Edmonton and our river valley on my fat tire cruiser and electric scooter. I am a huge music listener - primarily ambient, electronic, experimental rock, classical and jazz - and have a pretty crazy headphone audio setup.
Burning desire: Is to show people that true success comes from enjoying your life and discovering oneself.
Something no one knows about you: I went to school for Business & Psychology, yet I ended up teaching myself Photoshop, 3D design, sound engineering, and web programming. I started my marketing career creating flyers and marketing for music events and festivals in Edmonton which led me to starting work for tech startups.
Practices mixed martial arts for years mostly boxing, kickboxing and grappling. Was a DJ for years, even had a gig spinning at a Sherwood Park spin cycle studio! I am a connoisseur of bad cinema.
Key to success: Don't go into any pursuit blind - try to define what success looks like by looking at examples then reverse engineer these to come up with your own path.

My Favorite BNI Story– Our chapters’ Christmas Party back in 2019. Held at the Gibbard Block, it was a fun and event filled evening. It was one of the last times we had a large gathering of all our members pre-COVID. Was proud to help host the evening with the rest of our team.
